Family/Juvenile

Family Court provides Judges to hear family issues relating to divorce, child custody, adoption, termination of parental rights, domestic violence, child abuse and neglect.  Devoted exclusively to cases involving families and children, these cases do not compete with criminal/civil cases for court time.

Adoption

Closed Hearings 


The fee to open an adoption case is $221.00 + service fees for other parties. No paperwork for this type of filing is available through the Clerk's Office. 


To request information or documents in an existing case you must submit form AOC-290 to petition the court to inspect adoption records. You must present a valid ID in person at the Boone County Justice Center. 

Dependency, Neglect, and Abuse (DNA)

Closed Hearings


Paperwork to start these cases can be found and filed with the Boone County Clerk's office located in the Boone County Justice Center. 


To request information or documents in an existing case you must be listed as a party in the case and present a valid ID in person at the Boone County Justice Center.


We ask that you arrive prior to 3PM to give time for forms to be filed out and for Judges to sign the order.

Emergency Custody

Closed Hearings 


Paperwork to start these cases can be found and filed at the Boone County Clerk's office located in the Boone County Justice Center.


To request information or documents in an existing case you must be listed as a party in the case and present a valid ID in person at the Boone County Justice Center.


We ask that you arrive prior to 3PM to give time for forms to be filed out and give the Judges time to sign the order. 


If you cannot reach before our 4PM close time, or an emergency arises over a weekend/holidays an emergency custody case can be submitted by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Emergency Protective Order (EPO/IPO)

Closed Hearings


Paperwork to start, amend, or to drop these cases can be found and filled out in the Boone County Clerk's office located in the Boone County Justice Center.


We ask that you arrive prior to 3PM to give time for forms to be filed out and give the Judges time to sign the order. 


If you cannot reach the courthouse before our 4PM close time, or an emergency arises over weekend/holidays an EPO can be submitted by Police Road Units.

Child Support

Child Support cases are heard by Family Court Judges on the 1st and 4th Wednesday of every month.


The clerk's office does not have the paperwork to start this type of case, please contact Boone County Child Support for more information.

Paternity

Paternity cases are heard by Family Court Judges on the 1st and 4th Wednesday of every month.


The fee to open a Paternity case is $85 + service fees for other parties.  


No paperwork for this type of filing is available through the Clerk's Office, please contact a private attorney or Boone County Child Support to start this process.

Divorce/Legal Separation

Divorce and Legal Separation cases are heard by Family Court Judges. 


The fee to open a divorce or separation case is $221 + service fees for other parties.  


No paperwork for this type of filing is available through the Clerk's Office. 

Juvenile Delinquency

Closed Hearings 


Juvenile Delinquency cases are heard by District Judges on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Wednesday of every month.  


To request any information or documents pertaining to a Juvenile case, you must present a valid ID in person at the Boone County Justice Center.
